TB-500 Research Guide

This TB-500 Research Guide is part of the Pyrox Labs Knowledge Hub — for laboratory and research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

⚠️ Research use only. TB-500 is not approved by the FDA, MHRA, or any regulatory body for human or animal use. All information below is a summary of published research literature, provided for educational purposes only.

WHAT IS TB-500?

TB-500 refers to the synthetic peptide corresponding to the active actin-binding region of Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4), a naturally occurring 43-amino-acid protein studied extensively in cell-migration and tissue-repair research. Unlike a classic receptor agonist, TB-500 functions by binding and regulating actin — the structural protein cells use to move and reorganise. It is one of the most widely researched compounds in the Pyrox Labs range, often studied alongside BPC-157 in combination-research contexts. This guide summarises the published literature on TB-500/Thymosin Beta-4 for laboratory researchers.

RESEARCH BACKGROUND

Published literature — see this PubMed literature search — has explored areas including:

  • Cell migration and actin regulation in wound-healing models
  • Cardiac tissue repair following ischaemic injury (preclinical, rodent models)
  • Corneal and dermal wound healing — the most clinically advanced human research programme, studied under the designation RGN-259 in Phase 2/3 ophthalmic trials for dry eye and neurotrophic keratopathy
  • Tendon and ligament injury models (preclinical, rodent)
  • Angiogenesis (VEGF-related) and anti-inflammatory/anti-fibrotic pathways

It’s worth noting for researchers that the musculoskeletal/tendon-repair applications most commonly associated with the “TB-500” name remain largely preclinical (animal-model) evidence — the human clinical trial programme to date has focused on ophthalmic and dermal applications under the RGN-259 designation.

PROPOSED MECHANISM OF ACTION

Thymosin Beta-4 binds monomeric G-actin, regulating the pool of actin available for polymerisation into the filamentous F-actin structures cells use to migrate. When a cell receives a migratory signal, Tβ4 releases G-actin for rapid assembly at the cell’s leading edge — a process studied as rate-limiting in wound healing. Research has also linked Tβ4 to upregulation of VEGF (supporting angiogenesis) and modulation of inflammatory cytokine expression. TB-500 is frequently discussed alongside BPC-157 in the peptide-research community, based on the premise that Tβ4’s systemic cell-migration effects and BPC-157’s localised growth-factor signalling are complementary. Researchers should note that no published controlled study has directly evaluated a TB-500 + BPC-157 combination — the two compounds have been studied far more extensively in isolation, and any proposed combined effect remains an unproven hypothesis rather than an established research finding.

TB-500 RESEARCH GUIDE — HANDLING & STORAGE

  • Store lyophilised TB-500 vials in a freezer (-20°C), protected from light, for long-term storage.
  • Once reconstituted, store refrigerated (2–8°C) and use within the timeframe indicated by your research protocol, as reconstituted solution stability is generally shorter than the lyophilised form.
  • Use sterile technique and appropriate PPE when handling.
  • See our Reconstitution Guide for general laboratory reconstitution reference information.

CERTIFICATES OF ANALYSIS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is TB-500 approved for human use?
No. TB-500 products sold by Pyrox Labs are not approved by any regulatory authority for human or veterinary use. They are sold strictly for laboratory and research purposes.

Can Pyrox Labs advise on dosing or administration?
No. We do not provide dosing, administration, or treatment guidance of any kind. Our team can only answer questions relating to order status, product specifications, and COA/testing documentation.

Is TB-500 the same as Thymosin Beta-4?
TB-500 is the commercial/research name commonly used for the synthetic active-region peptide of Thymosin Beta-4. Published human clinical trial data for this class of peptide has used the designation RGN-259 (an ophthalmic formulation), not “TB-500.”

How is TB-500 supplied for laboratory research?
Pyrox Labs supplies TB-500 as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder in sealed research vials, with each batch accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis confirming purity and identity. TB-500 is also available combined with BPC-157 as a research bundle — see our combination blends.

Research Use Disclaimer: TB-500 products sold by Pyrox Labs are intended solely for in-vitro laboratory research and are not for human consumption, veterinary use, or any form of personal use.
