Pyrox Labs Tesamorelin 5mg research peptide vial

Tesamorelin Research Guide

This Tesamorelin Research Guide is part of the Pyrox Labs Knowledge Hub — for laboratory and research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

⚠️ Research use only. The tesamorelin sold by Pyrox Labs is supplied strictly as a research compound and is not the approved pharmaceutical product marketed under other brand names for clinical use. It is not approved, labelled, tested, or supplied by Pyrox Labs for human or animal use. All information below is a summary of published research literature, provided for educational purposes only.

WHAT IS TESAMORELIN?

Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino-acid analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), structurally identical to native human GHRH(1–44) with an added N-terminal modification that resists rapid enzymatic degradation. It is worth noting that tesamorelin has a genuine drug-approval history under other brand names, in other regulated markets, for a specific clinical indication (reduction of visceral fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy) — this is a different regulatory context from a laboratory research compound, and Pyrox Labs’ tesamorelin is supplied exclusively for in-vitro research use, not as that approved product. This guide summarises the published research literature on tesamorelin for laboratory researchers.

RESEARCH BACKGROUND

Published literature — see this PubMed literature search — has explored areas including:

  • Visceral adipose tissue reduction: pooled Phase 3 trial data (n=806) reported an approximate 15.4% reduction in visceral fat versus placebo at 26 weeks in HIV-associated lipodystrophy research
  • Hepatic fat and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD): a randomised, double-blind, 12-month trial (n=61) reported an approximate 32% reduction in hepatic fat fraction versus no change in the placebo group, with reduced fibrosis progression on biopsy
  • Hepatic transcriptomic signatures associated with tesamorelin in NAFLD research models
  • Cognitive function research: a randomised trial (n=152, ages 55–87) studied tesamorelin’s effect on executive function and IGF-1 levels in adults with mild cognitive impairment and healthy older adults, reporting significant improvement in executive function measures
  • Growth hormone/IGF-1 axis pharmacology more broadly

PROPOSED MECHANISM OF ACTION

Tesamorelin binds the GHRH receptor, a class B G-protein-coupled receptor on pituitary somatotroph cells, activating Gs-protein/cAMP signalling that triggers pulsatile growth hormone release — mimicking the action of endogenous GHRH. Its N-terminal modification blocks cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV), the enzyme that rapidly degrades native GHRH, extending its functional activity in research models. Downstream, elevated GH is studied for its effects on hepatic IGF-1 synthesis, lipolysis, and metabolic signalling — the basis for the visceral-fat and hepatic-fat research described above.

HANDLING & STORAGE

  • Store lyophilised tesamorelin vials in a freezer (-20°C), protected from light, for long-term storage.
  • Once reconstituted, store refrigerated (2–8°C) and use within the timeframe indicated by your research protocol.
  • Use sterile technique and appropriate PPE when handling.
  • See our Reconstitution Guide for general laboratory reconstitution reference information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is tesamorelin approved for human use?
Tesamorelin has an approval history under other brand names in some regulated markets for a specific clinical indication. However, the tesamorelin sold by Pyrox Labs is a separate research-grade compound, not that approved pharmaceutical product, and is not approved, supplied, or labelled by us for human or veterinary use under any circumstances.

Can Pyrox Labs advise on dosing or administration?
No. We do not provide dosing, administration, or treatment guidance of any kind. Our team can only answer questions relating to order status, product specifications, and COA/testing documentation.

Is tesamorelin often studied alongside other GH secretagogues?
Published clinical trials of tesamorelin have studied it as a standalone compound. Any combination with other GH secretagogues discussed in commercial or community sources is not supported by the controlled-trial literature.

How is tesamorelin supplied for laboratory research?
Pyrox Labs supplies tesamorelin as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder in sealed research vials, with each batch accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis confirming purity and identity.

Research Use Disclaimer: Tesamorelin products sold by Pyrox Labs are intended solely for in-vitro laboratory research and are not for human consumption, veterinary use, or any form of personal use.
