WHAT IS TESAMORELIN?
Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino-acid analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), structurally identical to native human GHRH(1–44) with an added N-terminal modification that resists rapid enzymatic degradation. It is worth noting that tesamorelin has a genuine drug-approval history under other brand names, in other regulated markets, for a specific clinical indication (reduction of visceral fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy) — this is a different regulatory context from a laboratory research compound, and Pyrox Labs’ tesamorelin is supplied exclusively for in-vitro research use, not as that approved product. PROPOSED MECHANISM OF ACTION
Tesamorelin binds the GHRH receptor, a class B G-protein-coupled receptor on pituitary somatotroph cells, activating Gs-protein/cAMP signalling that triggers pulsatile growth hormone release — mimicking the action of endogenous GHRH. Its N-terminal modification blocks cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV), the enzyme that rapidly degrades native GHRH, extending its functional activity in research models. Downstream, elevated GH is studied for its effects on hepatic IGF-1 synthesis, lipolysis, and metabolic signalling — the basis for the visceral-fat and hepatic-fat research described above.
